Lotsa Layers

My sister-in-law is cat crazy. She has two absolutely gorgeous Ragdoll cats and her house is full of all sorts of cat paraphernalia. For her birthday, I decided to make a special card featuring her cute kitties. The Simon Says Stamp Challenge is to use dies and/or punches to create a card. I used lots of different dies to make this card.

I started with a soft brown coloured cardstock and created a brick wall background using small rectangles cut from a mottled reddish piece of pattern paper. Next, I die cut a small Madison window, a pair of shutters, and a window box using Memory Box wafer thin dies and SSS 120 lb white cardstock. I mounted a piece of clear acetate to the inside of the frame to simulate glass, then I added a picture of the two cats that I cut out of a photo that I re-sized on my computer and ran off on my printer. I printed an image of a living room setting as a backdrop which I mounted behind the window using dimensional adhesive to give the illusion of depth to the room. I cut a rectangle from the brick wall background to fit the window and compensate for the extra depth of the two layers of dimensional squares. I added grass using a Die-namics die called Fresh Cut Grass, and a small tree using Memory Box's Leafy Branch that I cut from Solar White Neenah cardstock and coloured with my Copic markers. I built up layers of flowers and foliage using the following Memory Box dies: Fancy Blossoms, Tiny Tendril, Flower Mound, and Meadow Leaf. I mounted the completed window box to the background with more dimensional adhesive and then mounted the completed card front to a kraft card base. I was really pleased with the completed project.

Until next time,
