Less is More Challenge

The "Less is More" challenge this week is to create a one layer card and to include script in that creation. It is not too late to check out this week's challenge at "Less is More". Well, let me tell you that creating a one layer card can be quite a challenge in of itself. As card makers, many of us are so accustomed to adding layer upon layer to add depth and character to our work. In a one layer card, one has to create a beautiful image without making use of tangible layers. In this card, I stamped the floral image first using Hero Arts Shadow Ink. This is one of my current favourite tools. I do love the way this ink evens itself out as it dries and it comes in such delicious colours. I used one of the new mid-tone inks called Pool. Next, I created a paper mask to cover the floral image so that I could stamp my script around the edge. I wanted to keep the whole feel of the card soft and delicate, so I chose to use one of the relatively new Winter Seasonal colours of distress ink from Tim Holtz, Evergreen Bough, to stamp the script. I also accented this by inking the decal edge that I created using my Purple Cow Freestyle Mouse. I added a simple sentiment of "Hello" using a Papertrey Ink stamp from the Daily Designs Sentiments. Instead of adding ribbon for a bow, I chose to use some blue Scrapper's Floss. To put a few finishing touches on the card, I added a tiny bit of Stampin' Up Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the tips of the Queen Anne's lace flowers.

Hope you like it!

Until next time,
